Extractions

Cherry Blossom Dental Care provides different types of dental extractions. Dental extractions may be necessary when a tooth is loose or infected and causing problems or severe pain. Our pain management techniques and advances in anesthesia have made dental extractions as comfortable and almost as painless as possible.

Extraction Site Preservation

When removing a tooth, it is important to consider what will be done with the empty space after that tooth is removed. If nothing is done with the extraction site, the jaw bone will degenerate and change shape during the healing process.  According to some studies about 50% of the bone will absorb during the first year after extraction of the tooth. When there is no tooth, there is no stimulation for the bone to reestablish or create more bone as a constant action.  To prevent this huge amount of bone loss, bone grafting is advised. The source of this bone is an allograft.

The replacement options for the empty space after a dental extraction can be a dental implant, fixed bridge, or removable denture.

We will discuss your treatment options thoroughly with you to inform your choices and every step of the process. We will make sure to schedule follow up appointments with our dentist to ensure proper care for your extraction site.

Dental Implant Placement

When there is a missing tooth, if there is an adequate amount of bone, a dental implant can be placed to permanently replace the missing tooth. Implants are prosthesis with a surgical component. In the surgical stage, a prosthesis is placed in the bone that acts as the root of the tooth. Later on when this prosthesis gets integrated to the bone, a process called osteointegration begins. Next, restoration occurs and a crown will be added to the implant via a connector. There are many implant systems with various lengths and width that can be used depending on the location of the jaw and the amount of the bone.

Frenectomy

At times, there may be a tissue pull from the gum towards the teeth.  This pull can cause the space in between the teeth or in some patients can cause recession of the gum.  Frenectomy is removing of the pull. At Cherry Blossom Dental, we use a laser for this procedure which is very easy on patients and is not invasive. Most patients who get a frenectomy with a laser do not even need pain medication after the treatment.
